A Discovery Call is a 30-minute, one-on-one phone consultation with an independent HR Consultant. It’s a space to talk through what’s happening at work, get clarity on internal HR processes, and better understand your options, without pressure or legal risk.

We help with common workplace concerns like, harassment, dissemination, hostile work environment, bullying, isolation, compensation requests, exit planning, severance, microaggressions, complaint writing, participating in an HR investigation, retaliation, and more.

Yes. As long as you still have access to relevant documentation or evidence, we can help you frame what happened and understand whether there’s still a path to accountability or closure.
Eligibility & Access

We support U.S.-based employees or U.S. employees working abroad on U.S. payroll. We do not currently support international employees outside the U.S. labor system.

No. We work across all industries, including tech, government, education, nonprofit, healthcare, retail, and more.

No. We currently only support W-2 employees. Contractors and 1099 workers are not eligible for services due to legal and structural differences in employment rights.
During the Discovery Call

Calls are by phone, not Zoom. Your HR Consultant will call you at the scheduled time.

No formal strategy is shared during the Discovery Call. However, we answer your questions, explain HR processes, and help you understand why something may or may not be happening.

You’ll leave with:
Clarity on your situation
Insight into HR systems and internal dynamics
Language to better describe or document what’s happening
A sense of validation and next steps, without the pressure of full commitment

The Discovery Call gives you clarity. Extended Support gives you strategy, like:

Some calls may be recorded internally for training and quality control. These are never shared externally and are stored securely.
Cost & Payments

Regular Discovery Call: $125 (scheduled within 48 hours)
Priority Discovery Call: $175 (scheduled within 24 hours)

Payment is collected at the time of booking via our secure system. Support Packages begin on the purchase date, unless your Consultant helps you schedule a later start.

Yes! You can purchase a new package at any time. Returning clients receive a 20% off coupon for seamless continuation of care. We do recommend that if it has been more than 30 days since your last discovery call, you book another one before purchasing support packages

No. All calls and packages are non-refundable. Rescheduling is allowed with at least 24 hours' notice

Friends and internet advice can’t replace trained, independent HR guidance. We understand power, process, and documentation in ways that help you protect yourself, not just vent.

No. Caged Bird HR does not provide legal advice or representation. Our services are rooted in HR best practices and employee advocacy, not legal counsel. If you need legal advice, we recommend consulting a licensed employment attorney

This service is available only to clients actively enrolled in a three-month Extended Support Package, and only if your employer allows you to have a representative present. During these meetings, we will not speak on your behalf, but we will:
Ask for breaks to consult with you
Thoroughly prepare you for the types of questions that may arise
Help you document and reflect on what was said afterward
Your Consultant will help you determine if this is an option during your Discovery Call. This service is available only to clients actively enrolled in a three-month Extended Support Package. If this is something you believe you’ll need, your Consultant can walk you through what that support looks like and whether it’s a good fit during your Discovery Call.

While many of our Consultants have experienced workplace trauma themselves and can empathize deeply, Caged Bird HR is not a mental health service. You may find emotional relief in simply being heard and validated, but we are not licensed therapists. We strongly encourage all clients to seek support from a licensed mental health professional alongside our services if you are experiencing ongoing distress, anxiety, or trauma symptoms.
